Quick Questions On The Duox2 Chip
« on: June 23, 2008, 12:03:00 PM »

Hey I order the DuoX2 chip the white one from litspliff. I should get it sometimes this week maybe 2day. I am wondering like when people say they flash the bios what does that mean? Because i have 1 working softmod xbox and like 3 broken ones with error that i am going to fix with the chip. I am wondering should i put the chip in the working xbox's first then flash the bios then put it in the error boxes to fix them? I have been Google around for a install guide and i find some. But i am wondering what does Flash Bios mean and do i need to do that?

Also please tell me some stuff i need to do to the chip to get it working correctly.

It does not matter if you put the chip on the working xbox or not flash bios has an embedded eeprom and when you install the chip correctly it will appear in blue as a menu on the screen. You will have to have a original xbox controller to scroll threw the menu.It will have an option for network or flash or something and you launch it.Go to your pc open a web browser and put in the ip address listed on the flashbios screen. It will then connect you with the chip and flash bios will appear on your pc from there it is self explanatory you will see.If you are installing the chip on xbox model 1.6v you might have some issues if this is an issue you need to speak up so someone with experiance with installing this chip on a 1.6v can help. The 1.6v has an issue with flash bios or something I am not for certain it will  require a rebuild kit for one thing but it has some other kind of issue as well.If worse comes to worse ask litspliff he will know I am sure.

On some 1.6B machines , flashbios can cause a blank screen. This can sometimes be overcome by many re-boots, but the easy way is to boot from bank 0 which always works and use Eurasia to flash the console

i would suggest that you post in the "BIOS" section to learn more about BIOS and BIOS images.

i think you will find what you need there.

learn the basics, then apply it to your situation.

fixing xboxes isn't hard, but you need to be educated on the subject...

as a side note, flashbios also works with the M$ DVD remote control.
