Check the D0 connection on the motherboard

The red led on the chip should flash.
To test the Xbox
Disconnect the BT wire from the chip. Connect a link between BT on the chip and Pin 9 (Point G) on the LPC.
Unsolder the D0 wire from the chip and connect it to ground (metal ring round one of the screw holes)
This set up forces the machine to boot from the LPC.
If it still boots the retail bios then the D0 connection is the problem.
Let me know what the result from the test is.

the good new is that you fixed your D0.

the bad news is that you prob. fked your MoBo.....

 

take it out again (carefully!!!), and inspect for damage.

look for obvious stuff first like missing capacitors or resistors.
