Hi

As long as you can solder or can learn to solder well go for a modchip, Duox2's are cheap and good! I dont know about your laws but get a Duox2 GS which has flashbios on which allows you to flash your own BIOS to (the other duox2 (non GS) has a BIOS that is illegle in most likely all countries) To get a Duox2 gs from canada i cannot really say, You can buy one from america of a person call 'Litspliff' who is a great person and very reputable! they are like $14 (American) i think.

Any HDD will do but it has to be more than 8GBs and be IDE/PATA for ease

If you do not understand the BIOS thing and such, ask here and i'm sure you'll figure it out fast with our help!

Depending on your soldering proficiency, an eeprom reader which requires less soldering is the other alternative. http://forums.afterd...view.cfm/357863. Once you have your eeprom, you can rebuild your hdd with xboxhdm.

Ok, The modchip themselves dont matter...its the BIOS's that tend to be legal!

Litspliff is a person on these forums that sells duox2 gs's at a reasonable price and is very trusty worthy if you go on the B/S/T you should find a topic that is his where he sells his stuff.

yeah dude, you can fix this with a duoX2, but it's more than just a simple chip install.

what you need to do is get yourself a new HD also. all the info on the old one is lost forever, so time to get a new one. i suggest large (200GB+).

you will also need a boot disc (slayer's or something like that) to get access to the HD once you have installed the chip on the motherboard and flashed the proper bios to the chip.

do a little bit of research on which bios to use (legally, i can't help you with that).

ok, I boot up with bank 0, it shows the blue linux screen and says HD unlock successful, so that should mean everything is installed properly and working right? But I still get the "BooddeReadData data not ready"

nevermind, I figured out that I set the HDD jumper wrong, now it detect the HDD. But Im not sure what to do next

if you are going to run linux on it, you are ready to install from your linux installation disc.

if you are doing other things now, then you will have to take it to a different topic.

this is also where i can no longer legally help you.

try looking in the bios section of the forum.
