Can Duox2 Cromwell Read Eeprom?

If you have a chip fitted then I would't bother going that route.
I'd use an AID Auto-Installer Deluxe CD to reflash the modchip with X2.4983.67 BIOS and build the new hdd.
You can also download and use Auto-XBINS 2008"" to source the latest software.
The HDD only needs to be locked if you are going to use XBOX Live which also means you must boot up with the chip disabled and the games must be genuine. If you wont be using xbox live then DONT lock the hdd to the mobo. You DONT NEED THE EEPROM for this method. PM me if you want to go this way and need help.  Cheers

The chip can not be flashed via AID at present because the bios on the chip will not boot unsigned code until it has a hacked bios flashed to it. It has Linux Cromwell at present.
Install the new HDD (unlocked at present)
Flash the chip with a 512K hacked bios.
To flash it you will need to use a Linux flash app such as Eurasia.
Once the bios is flashed then you can use an auto installer to install the dashboard and applications.
If you wish to use the retail bios on the machine and XBL then you can lock the drive using the auto installer disc

when a duoX2 is installed with the BT jumped to the eject button, the eject button will bypass the modchip and boot from the retail bios.

it doesn't boot properly because you either:

A. don't have a hard drive installed

or

B don't have the hard drive locked.

booting it like this will not damage the console, and from what i've heard, the chip seems to be installed properly.

get eurasia, boot it with the linux bios, then use it to flash your chip.

be sure to use a 512KB bios file.

Just to update those who have helped me, I sucessfully flashed the new bios to bank 1 this evening and installed the new hard drive.  Tomorrow night will be spent setting up the hard drive.

Thanks again for your help!

Well, it’s done!  The whole goal of this one was to return it to retail, or as close as I could get it.  I probably went about building the drive the hard way, but what I ended up doing was using xboxhdm to build a new drive.  In the xboxhdm\linux\C: folder, all I put in was a version of UnleashX with Ndure, renamed as xboxdash.xbe.  Once I booted it up and had UnleashX running, I backed up the eeprom and then locked the hard drive.  I then FTP’ed in and copied the eeprom.bin file to my PC (just in case), deleted UnleashX from the C: and FTP’ed a fresh copy of the retail C: in.  I think the whole process probably took 30 minutes including burning the xboxhdm CD.

I cold booted it a couple times with the eject button and it loads up like any other retail box out there.  Tomorrow, I’ll remove the chip so I can use it in another project.

Thanks again for everyone’s help with this!
