Trying To Repair A Comatose Xbox With Duox2gs
« on: November 25, 2007, 08:31:00 AM »

Hi,

I have an XBOX v1.4 that is comatose. No video or audio, just a solid green light when I power on, if use eject to power on I get a flashing green light but nothing else.

I read that this type of condition can be due to corrupt BIOS on the mobo and that a possible solution is to install a modchip. I bought and installed a white DUOX2GS but still get nothing. I fired up the XBOX and only get a dim red led coming on the modchip. The led is the one neaest the pin header.

My question really is, is this normal for thr modchip?

Of course any other help on the issue would be great too,

Thanks in advance,

Iain

The LED should not be Dim red. Suggests you have one of the secondary power lines being pulled down somewhere. Check the 3v3 and in particular the 5v line.

thanks for the reply.

i read this after doing more 'work' on my xbox. i now have another problem. i went for the D0 on the bottom of the board and the track came up with my iron and is now loose. i taped it down and re made all the solder points on the header and used D0 on the top side of the board. now nothing on the DUO lights but the xbox FRAG's. the optomist in me thinks this might be progress but i'm not sure. is there any sound way of repairing the track on the underside and is this 'issue' possibly the cause of the box gragging and the DUOX not doing anything?

thanks in advance for the help,
