Duo X2 Gs White Cromwell Help
« on: May 05, 2007, 08:52:00 AM »

Okay, recently my xbox received micorosoft xbox service error #16 (6 diferent languages). I contacted a person knowledgable in this matter and he said it was due to a faulty hard-drive. Replacing this would be the key to my problem. Can anyone confirm this? I need a modchip to replace it, and I have decided to get the white DuoX GS with Cromwell BIOS. Apparently this one works for all versions of xbox, but some websites are unsure of this. Will this chip work for my version 1.0 xbox?

I read about it. I am not sure what the two BIOS banks are for. Why are two needed? Do you need to switch between them?

Thanks

Error 16 is the files on the HDD (Clock.xip files corrupt or other dash files corrupt).
Fitting a chip will enable you to correct the problem.
If you order the white chip you will need to flash a hacked bios to the chip after installing it. This will then allow you to run an Autoinstaller disc to replace the corrupt dash files.
It will work in your version.

Chancer
Thank you very much for your reply. Now if I understand correctly, then the problem is not with the hardware of the hard-drive, but with the files on it. In that case erasing the files and replacing them should fix the  problem? That would save money and I would not need to buy a hard drive.

I understand what a BIOS does. But what I do not understand is why does the white Duo X2 GS have 2 banks? Why would you switch back and forth?

Thanks

2 banks = 2 different bioses. One for, say, cromwell (linux) and the other for a hacked one. Oh and if you flash the x2 5035 bios, then it will load the dashboard ignoring the error 16. I've tried this a few times and everytime I flashed the x2 bios, the error 16 went away. Wierd but it worked, and should work for you.

Okay. So the 2 banks are just a nice addon, and you only need to flash one of them. Does the 5035 BIOS support Evolution X? Where can I get the 5035, anyone know?

Thanks

Yes, it supports pretty much any dashboard as long as it is named correctly (ie: evoxdash.xbe, unleashx.xbe, etc. etc.) and you can get it from xbins. Google xbins for more info on it wink.gif

Thanks "Blame Canada"
Would you or anyone else recommend any particular dashboard. I have a softmodded xbox but I am not sure what version of Evolution X it has.

Thanks

Definately Unleashx or XBMC. Evox is way too outdated and is only really needed if you are trying to backup your eerpom as that is about the only useful thing it does lol.

Okay
Unleashx, is that the latest version or is it something like unleashx 10.0.2.3. XBMC, isn't that xbox media center? I have that on my softmodded xbox. Is it also a dashboard? I've also heard that Avalaunch is good.
Which one performs the best? I have EvoX on my SM xbox, and its alright. Looks tight. Simple and organisation is good.

NO NEED OF MODCHIP TO FIX THAT

Ok simple way to fix your error 16.Open your console, unplug the dvd reader and boot it up.If you have a error 12,you are ready to hotswap your xbox(I use xboxhdm for that).Just re-install C partition and voila. I fix my error 16 with that yesterday.Work very well now.Hope it help!!!
