1. I have a 1.6 Mobo and will be rebuilding my LPC. what guage wire is appropriate. I bought 30 gauge solid conductor (Radio shack has this lised as insulated wrapping wire) is this acceptable? or should i use a thicker gauge?
2. In many photos i have noticed the wires laid across the trace connection then soldered. Is it a bad thing to place the tip into the trace then soldered in place (the D0 for example). Do i risk bridging the top to the bottom of the Mobo?
3. Does the diameter of the solder matter for accuracy and success? I have .032, .020, and of ton of the normal stuff (.062)
4. Using Rosin flux applied separately to wire and traces, any thoughts on this technique as opposed to rosin core solder? I found that it sped up wicking into the gaps and created a quick, shiny, and well shaped solder joint with minimal time spent with the soldering iron on the trace. Do i clean up the left over rosin?
5. the wattage and temp of the suggested soldering irons varried as widely as the posters on this form. I have a Old Weller unit that used to be used to repair damaged Motherboards for NCR. this has 700 and 800 degree fine point and screw driver tips of .01mm and .02mm. This is a 60watt unit. any opinions on choices of soldering equiptment?
I know I am most likely WAY overthinking this, but I have over a dozen co-workers lining up to see if I can do their boxes (after i succeed with my own of course). Might even make a side job out of this. If i fail, well... some folks will be cruel... and my friends even more so...

I modded a V1.0 a couple of days ago with a white duo.
I used 22 AWG wire, the same as I used for the PS2.
This works fine without problems here. So you'll be fine with the 30 AWG wires.
I got he most thin solder I could find, works fine.
I do not use flux, ever.
I used a 15W soldering iron.
