i finaly got the chip installed and took a while since the tip on my soldering iron is bad but anyway, i found out that i have a xbox v1.6, and bank 0 is for 1.0-1.5 and bank 1 is for 1.6. but when i have it on bank 1 nothing boots. but bank 0 works fine. before i go any further i wanted to ask why.

bank 1 should be working. I wouldnt recommend booting from bank 0 too many times. but if you are still having trouble i would use bank 0 to boot up, and then flash bank 1 using slayers 2.7 and the correct bios. heres the guide on that. http://hackdabox.ete...2_Flashing.html

let me clearify this, i have nothing on bank 1. when i have it on bank 1, i get a blank screen. and an oragne button on the sbox after about 5 seconds. and thats it. i was hoping to get this think working by tonight but its not looking that could atm

Hmmm? could be bad bank 1 flash. Did you buy it new or from a reputable source. I say use the Eurasia reflashdisc and flash bank 1 from bank 0. Then see what happens.

i tried that disc, but now my pc won't let me burn the bios to the cd

it always says "Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this file", thast just with windows. but with any other burning software i can't get it to burn. i used XBtool to change the bios size from 256 to 512. and its evox for 1.6, damn it. i got it new from consoleshop. i wish i got the blue one so i could already be messing with it.

Firstly it causes no problems booting from bank 0 on the Cromwell chip, no matter how many times you boot it.
I doubt you have a bad flash as the Hackdabox reflash disc will not work without the chip having a hacked bios on the chip.
bank 1 most likely is not working as you maybe have a version 1.6b. Blank screen is very common with this version on this bank due to a glitch in the version of flashbios on the chip.
Your options left are Boot from bank 0 and use Eurasia (linux Flash app) to flash the chip in combination with a bios disc. the read me with the Eurasia program will tell you how to do this. Also after running the Eurasia disc BUT BEFORE inserting the bios disc, flip the switch to Bank 1 so that the the flash occurs on that bank.Leaves you with a working flashable bank.
Make sure the bios on the bios disc is 512k and make sure it is a 1.6 bios
