I am probably the least qualified person here to answer this but I'll give it a go.

If the chip is a DuoX 2 then it should have a second BIOS on it.  Just flip the switch on it and it will boot from the other BIOS.  Then you could (while booting from that BIOS) flip the switch right before you flash back to the bank that doesn't boot to flash it.

If the other bank is hosed too then you might have to do a hot swap.  That usually involves another chip but someone else here could probably tell you an easy way to do it.

So you have to desolder and replace with a working chip, and make it swappable so you can do the flashing again.

You sure its a bios problem, and your d0 point didnt work itself loose?  Also, can't you just wait until its ready to flash on the second bank, and just flip the switch to flash the other one? Last, make sure you're using a 512k bios.

Ermm That is not correct at all. You CAN boot from 1 bank and flick the switch to flash the other bank. Not sure where you got your info from but it is wrong

If it's white, you have the DuoX2-GS.  I've never had problems flashing these chips.  Are you certain that you're using the right size bios?  That chip has two 512k banks.  If your bios is not 512k, its probably going to screw things up.  Have you tried both banks?  If not, which one is free?  One should be flashbios, and the other should be cromwell.  They require different procedures.

When I flashed, I used the Manzzon.com's boot disc, and just picked in the menu the first option with 512k bios.

The progressbar came about 30-40% then it stopped.

The one that's left is the cromwell bios, it's v2.32 (says it's encoder: Focus, if it's of any relevance).

And the TSOP is intact too.

I made a sacrifice to the gods of xbox last night and stayed up a few hours into the morning to solve this issue.

First off, I found out my mistake...I thought my Xbox was an 1.4, (in xbox hw info it shows as an 1.4) but evidently it was a 1.6. So I had simply flashed the wrong bios file.

My solution was to burn the eurasia_pro_generic_flash_disc_1_3 (found it on eurasia) and make a bios disc as per the instructions.

I booted the cromwell chip and put in the flash disc and started it. Then I loaded in the bios disc and flipped the switch on the duox2 chip. And Presto! it worked after the reboot.

But on a side note....The random reboots when Post-ing are still there, more or less... Could it be the "1.6 No power" - thing I've been hearing about?

I just installed a Duox2 chip and flashed the wrong bios to a 1.6 (I knew it was a 1.6, and knew the bios was old for pre 1.5 - just going to fast).  You can use both biosed on a 1.6.  Get a flash disk, boot with cromwell - follow instructions on the flash disk AFTER you remove the chip from the header and flip the switch and replace.  I dont think just flipping the switch changes the bank until the chip is powered down/up.

yes it does. there is no need to lift the chip from the header to flip and flash.
