Help Please Duox2 Gs (newb Problem)
« on: November 17, 2006, 08:45:00 PM »

Ok so I installed a duox2 gs white cromwell/flashbios chip on a v1.0 xbox. Basically the only reason I chose to install the chip was so I could install a larger hdd because I could not get it to work with xbhdm.

So I made a huge newb mistake and installed a 256kb bios on bank 1 via http ... I tried to install on bank 0 incase I scewed something up Id still have flashbios 3.03 but it wouldnt lemme so I installed on bank 1 ... Now all I can boot is bank 0 with the cromwell bios ... I used xbtool and created a 512kb evox M8plus bios ... now I just need to know how to flash ... Ive tried eurasia boot discs but Ive never been able to get my xbox to boot from cd-rw ... I have no dvd-r anymore so is there another way I can flash my chip ???  please help  basically right now I can start xbox w. evox dash but with mod chip disabled ...

I should of just ordered the duox2 lite with m8plus preflashed I beleive ...

I don't know alot about chips, but if you have a disc to flash your bios, then try this. All you need to buy is a molex power splitter, which should only be $2-5 US.

1. Remove the cover of your xbox
2. Remove the PC-CD Drive from your computer.
3. Attach the molex power splitter to the power cable on your XBOX HDD
4. Plug the splitter into the PC-CD Drive and the XBOX HDD
5. Unplug the IDE cable from your stock DVD-Rom on your XBOX and plug it into the PC-CD Drive
6. Make sure that there is a disc in and the yellow power cable is plugged in on your XBOX DVD-Rom
7. Put your disc for flashing your Bios in the PC-CD Drive

If you do this then your XBOX will be able to read a cd-r or -rw
And If you don't want to spend the money for a molex splitter, you can leave the power cable connected to the PC-CD Drive from the computer and just plug the IDE cable into it with you're computer running (but it probably won't be long enough).

Sorry but I'm in the middle of a 12hr night shift and I'm exhausted. Reply to tell me how it works!!

now why would i need the splitter? I mean why not just plug the cdrom from computer directly into xbox ...  my xbox is softmodded ive ftp'd the bios to the hdd I just cant boot with the mod chip on to flash it ... I can only boot the cromwell ... I was thinking maybe there was someway to flash it through cromwell (bank 0) becausae when that boots if i click on the etherboot icon instead of the dvd icon it looks like it trys to connect to my internet ....  but just keeps says   f7f7.f7f7.f7f7  doesnt do anything else that ive seen ...

I think im going to go buy some new different brand cd-rw's today (was using sony before) and possibly try to run xbhdm again because pretty much I have a new xbox ....lol

I had a v1.6 but must of fried motherboard when installing modchip (1st time solderer) so I went and bought a used xbox (new ones are hard to find now with 360 and ps3 out) was just going to swap motherboards but only one cable didnt fit, the main power supply cable so I just took everything out of the v1.0 (used) and put it in my v1.6 shell so serials would match when I returned it and they scanned ... worked like a charm ... no questions asked when returning just told them didnt work and was just going to wait to get 360 ... lol... if you fried your motherboard or fucked something up that worked pretty good for me ... I swapped everything out and put them both together in like an hour so I brought the used one back right away ...

If anyone has any other ideas of how to flash without cd please lemme know also .... worst comes to worst and I have to used a cd and get one to work ....   to get flashbios 3.03 back on bank 1 do i just run eurasia then make a bios disc with flashbios.gin on it ?

if you do what I said, then the external drive will be able to read any format disc. Just trust me.
Don't keep spending money on different brands of media. The easiest way to do this is buy a molex power splitter and connect your pc-cd rom to your xbox.

If you go to radioshack and ask for a molex power splitter then they will know what you are looking for. Just buy one and that will solve your problem. I've given this advice for 2 or 3 problems in the past 2 days and it has solved them perfectly. Just spend the few bucks to buy a power splitter, then follow what I said above.
