I figured out what's what but now I have the follownig problem.. with me first time soldering I solder two pins togther by mistake. would this cause a problem? I tried the disoldering strip but doesn't seem to work.. am i f*d now?

Use a solder sucker or the braid with a more powerful iron. You will need to clean up the shorted pins and tidy up the job. If you feel it is not going to work out , take it to someone who can solder well

try taking it to a pro(especially if you've got v1.6). It sounds like you're not up to snuff on soldering principles. I've been doing ps2's for 3 years now. Let's see, how many tinier points are there on a ps2.....hmmmmm too many especially earlier versions of ps2 with bios ic chip legs soldering. Whoa! Just don't melt away any traces(if you're doing v1.6 rebuild). You'll be so messed up! I did that when trying to remove bridged legs on a ps2. I had to retrace the points which aren't fun. Now, I don't make mistakes like that.

Also, I've just done a V1.6b and I used the LPC port rebuild PCB(a no no), but I didn't know any better. Anyways, i finished and given back to my customer(working and modded). I lost money on that.
