Installed Duox2 Gs - Now How Do I Solve Error 05?
« on: October 16, 2006, 02:05:00 PM »

incidentally- isn't the startup screen (the big green x) supposed to look different or something...??

it doesn't.

Does this mean i didn't install the chip right?  If so - what do I need to fix...?

Also - there is a little light that is evenly blinking on the chip when the xbox is running...

Let me know if you have any tips.

Thanks!

your d0 is not soldered correctly

if you installed it correctly
you would see either flash bios (cromwell chip) or a a different color X at start up (blue chip)

I just tested it with my multi-meter, and my connection from the chip to the board is solid.  D0 is connected.  any other tips...?

I've tested with a multimeter, and my D0 line is sound.  Is there anything else that might be amiss?  The chip flashes when the xbox is powered on with the power button (not when powered on with the eject button) - but the microsoft screen is just the normal one - not some special cromwell or blue screen or whatever.

I really want to get this all sorted out - any tips?

thanks!

Check d0. Again. if the chip is getting power and d0 is connected.. it should at least FRAG.

Actually, is this a blue duox2? Or a cromwell? If it's a blue, you could be getting the normal m$ dash just b/c you haven't flashed a new bios yet.. though you should at least see "Xecuter 2" under the x logo at boot.. or a purple evox shield in the top left corner.

Ground the Xbox D0 wire. That is unsolder it from the chip end and solder it to a metal ring on the mobo round one of the screw holes.
Boot the box with the power button and report the symptoms back in this thread.
Don't make another thread for this

then you have not connected it to the d0. are you sure you didn't solder it to the 3rd point from the other direction?

Grounding D0 forces boot from the LPC. Your D0 is not connected correctly.
Post a picture of your work, see if anyone can spot something

Wait wait.... i think i did the grounding backwards...  Were you saying to connect the d0 point on the chip to ground or to connect the d0 point on the motherboard to ground?

I connected the d0 point on the chip to ground.

I'll wait for someone to confirm this before I jump in with a hot iron.   Thanks!

thanks!

I finally got this screen:

IPB Image

Thank god.

Ok - what do i do now to get a functional xbox? (by which i mean, the ability to play games and run XBMC)  I haven't screwed around with it at all since I got the flashbios screen, so I don't know if there's anything I have to do to get around the error 05...  jeez... I'm just so relieved to see some small sign of progress I don't know where to start.

also - should I leave the wiring like this, or try to hook it back into the chip again...?

thanks!

sorry - i know I'm throwing a lot of comment windows into this forum...

Also - the chip now boots regardless of whether I power on the xbox with the power button or the eject button.  Again... is this the wiring...? or am I missing something else...?

ok... progress report...

I'm running through this tutorial

http://www.team-xecu...shbios/http.htm

And I've made it as far as connecting to my xbox with my pc through the network.

What bios should I grab from xbins to throw on my mod chip?  (a DuoX2 GS)  And is there any kind of size modifying I have to do to the bios first...?
