Xbox Is "fragging" With Or Without Modchip - Did I Fubar My

SIMPLE TROUBLESHOOTING RULES:Trouble shooting  <-- this link maybe of some help, your link to your picture isn't working and it does sound like your D0 is messed up ..

When I solder the D0 point i tin it, it seems to help alot when you do that wink.gif  do a search on repairing the D0 point there is alot of peeps with that same problem ( torn trace, lifted Via pad ) .

3) If your Xbox frags when enabled and disabled:
-You likely have a problem on your motherboard unless the grounding mechanism on the chip is having issues.
-Remove the chip and all connection from D0. If it still frags, it is definitely damage to your motherboard if there isn't excess solder somewhere.

I did "tin" my wire before I put it on there but I just couldn't get the solder to stick to the D0 point! Is there a particular reason the solder won't stick? I saw another site that said that there is a coating that I may need to scrape off the point to be able to actually get to the conductor. Is this true?

I didn't see any damage to the traces after a few glances, but I'm going to look at it closer (with a magnifier) today.

I was thinking about getting one of those CircuitWriter pens to repair my traces (if needed) - do these work well? Any advice appreciated -thanks!

sorry i guess i was not totaly clear i ment tin the D0 Via pad and also the wire, tinning the Via pad should make it "stick" you may want to clean it with some electonic contact cleaner before you continue ..

i really wouldn't be scraping at the board IMO its not a good idea ..  Forget about the CircuitWriter pen!!!!! I messed up the under side D0 once and repaired it by going from the next via pad to it to the upper side D0 Via pad with 30AWG Wire .

Alright, I think I got it working for the most part.

I was able to fix the bottom D0 - apparently a little part of the trace was broken. I decided to buy that CircuitWriter pen and it worked fine (after a couple of tries.)

Now I still couldn't figure out how to solder in the D0 wire (I used a thin 30AWG wire.) So I decided just to tape it down with electrical tape and it works fine for now.

Also what is a good way to keep the chip in place on the socket? It seems to keep coming loose when I put my Xbox together. Right now it has a few pieces of electrical tape keeping it there, but how does everyone else do it?
