cool, glad i tried what i did then. let me know if this is a good or a bad idea. completely remove the current header that is on there, clean up all the lpc points and remove any of the older solder there. clean up the contact points, put a new header on it with new solder and see what happens next.

I wouldn't remove the header. 95% of the time removing the header only leads to more problems than it solves. (Especially if you don't have a lot of soldering experience).
I'd reflow all the solderpoints and make sure you're getting good contact on each one. It's possible you have a lifted LPC ring on one of the lpc holes, in which case you'll need to rebuild it from it's source on the board to the lpc pin.
