Doux 2 White Install
« on: July 30, 2006, 12:28:00 AM »

The Chip Bios will not boot, tried both banks, and both power and eject; the chip only boots to the M$ dash. The LED on the chip is barely lit. I followed the rules exactly on Chancer's site (http://www.fixnchipz.co.uk/page3.html), except I forgot to pull the pin out of the male pin header (I pulled the three out of the female though). I also, did the rebuild board, instead of the wire install.

I think it is the rebuild board that got messed up (suprise, suprise). Things look like they got a little bit unlined up. I realize now I should have gone ahead and just done the wire install, but it's too late to do that. My question is can the rebuild board be easily removed... or has the damage been done? I've done a few solder jobs before, but am no expert on the matter.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for the reply, I changed the bt point to always on, and fixed up some of my solder points. Now I get a frag (three pulses, no vid/audio) with the chip on the pinheader, but a normal boot with it off. Could it be a bad chip?

The problem now is almost certainly the LPC rebuild and connections. Try reflow the connections with the soldering iron a little hotter.

Now the xbox frags with or without the chip. I just keep going from bad to worse... I've never had this many problems before installing a chip.  sad.gif I really aprreciate the help, do you have any other ideas?

then you really screwed up the soldering, or damaged something, solder splash, etc

I think you'd soldered the male pin header into the wrong holes............?

You cant actually fit the male pin header down in the correct place without removing the necessary pin, as there is the actual motherboard in the way!!! There is nowhere for that pin to go. There should be 4 free holes to the side of your connector, so make sure its on the right part!!!
