My buddy installed my DuoX (bought from SICKdimension so i asume its no clone) into my 1.4 Xbox and it wont flash..

Dam no edit button

Aparently everything else works .. Can boot dissabled (and play a retail game) or enabled (both banks boot just wont flash). Works with an X2 with the same pin header D0 install .. Bad chip?

How did he use an evox util for trying to flash when the chip doesn't have a hacked bios yet.
Bad soldering (High resistance connection) can stop a duo from flashing as well.
Other than that make sure the correct flash ID is in the raincoat.cfg. First 13 lines.

WHat does it say/do when it doesn't flash? Does it freeze at a certain point, error msg, etc???

He said he can launch xbes from within flashbios... Iduno how tho

Unknown Hardware Read Only.

He never mentioned anyhing about freezing. So I asume it just gives the error msg each time

" It is from a bad chip, you just gotta chuck it and use another. But he makes no sense as you can't run .xbe's from flashbios........ if you could, then why would you need to flash it?

I would see your mod installer first. If he is claiming he can launch evox from flashbios, he can't. Let someone else flash the chip for you.

I agree with Chancer, go back to the installer. Cause if he can launch ANY .xbe files then the chip is flashed. Basically having both scenarios you described is 100% not possible

I dont get why he said he even tryed evox either.. maybe he was just trying to make a point that nothing works .. who knows lol

From what i can make out from the pics the soldering looks pretty good. what do you think?

One thing i am worried about is in the pic he used the top D0. And he said its now installed with the bottom/alt D0. Plus he tested with a X2 .. which means hes soldered on the D0 at least 3 times

. From what i understand the D0 is pretty dleicate ......

NM he used the top D0 to test and the bottom D0 for the final install .. and the same wire for the X2 .. I was under the impression that the top and bottom D0 where the same point and while they lead to the same place they are actually 2 diff points heh..

Maybe... I have never actually met the guy in real life lol. Been talking to him on IRC for like 5 years tho.

He said hes done more then a few Xboxs/PS2s. But I think this is his first DuoX install and he didn't research the chip at all. His soldering looks good as far as i can tell from the crappy pics. I mean the LPC looks almost identical to the machine soldered IDE connections on the board.

Oh and he is doing it for free so I don't think he is trying to fuck me over and make a quick $50 with a shitty install ... Guess ill find out soon enough if he knows what he is doing
