Duo X2 Booted Once, Then Ms Bios
« on: May 20, 2006, 01:47:00 PM »

I just installed a Duo X2 white Cromwell/Flashbios chip on my v1.6 xbox.  Due to some problems with the install, I used wires to rebuild the LPC instead of the PCB that came with my chip.  After I got everything soldered up, I went to test my mod.  On the first try, with the chip on bank 1, Flashbios 3.03 booted effortlessly.  I powered down the xbox and switched to bank 0 to test Cromwell.  This time, the xbox booted to the MS dash.  This was slightly irritating, but I figured I only needed one bios, so I switched back to bank 1 and booted again, hoping to go ahead and flash.  However, this time, instead of Flashbios, I once again got the MS dash.

Does anybody know what could cause this?  The chip booted once on bank 1, but after that neither bank worked.  The system wasn't shaken or dropped or anything that could have knocked a connection loose.  The only think that moved between attempts was the bank select switch.

If it makes any difference, the BT point is not connected to anything, because I have no desire to disable the chip.

This actually belongs in the team omega section of the modchips forum, but I will try to help you anyway.  I believe your lframe point does not have reliable contact (i have seen this happen many times with a bad d0 solder job on versions 1.0-1.5).  Either that or your rebuild could be messed up and or sloppy and it is the lpc is getting muddled signals.

EDIT: Bt has to be connected to something you know!.... just wire it up for always on.  I believe Chancer has a great guide for that on his website.  You just wire the bt point to the 3.3 v point on the chip i believe

Thanks a bunch, I didn't know that and it worked perfectly after I hooked it up.  The only thing I don't understand now is why it even worked once.

It's why people say you can't leave pins floating. It happens all the time that the pin reports the last known state.
