Bios And Dash Procedure
« on: May 01, 2006, 01:37:00 PM »

On a 1.4 xbox you can use X24981 or if you want a newer bios use X25035.
Simply burn the bios to CDRW making sure it is
512K in size
Named BIOS.BIN
Also you can add a dummy data file named aabbcc.dat (100-200MB)
The disc you burn is just burned as regular data disc.
Boot bank 1 of the chip (Flashbios) and follow the instructions on screen to flash the chip using your bios disc.
For the dash obtain Slayers 2.6 or AID 3.00
Once the bios is flashed boot the box with one of the above autoinstaller discs in and install the dash.

Bios And Dash Procedure

Howdy Chancer,

I had a question regarding these white DuoX2 chips.

If I install one and boot to the FlashBIOS bank, is it advantageous to flip the switch to the other bank just before flashing so that if there is a problem the FlashBIOS bank will still be intact?

I seem to recall reading about doing this somewhere but I can not be sure.  My only experience with modchips (keep in mind I had never touched an Xbox at all before January) has been with the DuoX2 GS on one of my 1.0 boxes which worked out of the box without flashing.

Thanks again,

Hoyt

If the flashbios bank works fine for you and you can easily flash using it, then I would say yes flick the switch across and flash bank 0.
You are correct in thinking the Flashbios bank will still be intact and available should you need a re-flash.
