Okay. So I have had my DuoX2 installed for a while now. I have never been able to connect using my PC. I have tried hubs, routers, crossovers. I have statically assigned IPs and set it to DHCP. When I set it to use DHCP, it won't pull an IP from my router. When I assign it an IP I cannot ping it from my PC. Is there a chance that I have a bad install, or a bad chip? The only things I can think of now are 1)replace motherboard 2)replace chip with an X2 3)replace motherboard and replace chip.

What do you guys think?

It has nothing to do with your modchip.
If you have a fault anywhere in the xbox its the NIC (Chip) perplexer does these.
I still think it more likely your networking setup.

I have done pretty much everything possible in the networking configuration.

How do I tell whether or not the network chip is bad. I found a site to buy them. Will system link games still work(like Halo)?

If system link works now the NIC on your Xbox is working.
Pm mrogers about networking problems. according to his sig he can sort anything to do with networking

I tried to connect to XBConnect. My XBox could not be found, so system link games arent working. I PMd mrogers but haven't got a response yet. I wasn't anywhere near the networking chip, so I couldn't have messed it up could I? xboxrepairguide.com has them for sale, would replacing it actually work?

Most common thing is static discharge damaging the nIC but they can and do just fail for nothing.
If the ethernet port appears to not be working and you are sure everything else network wise is out then yes I would replace the chip
