Booting From Power Or Eject = Same Thing

No, with the chip off the red light should stop flashing.. Make sure you're not accidentilly grounding BT to the shielding, and make sure (or, touching it to any voltage source...). You don't happen to have a TSOP flash on your xbox? Or a softmod installed?

If I remove the modchip from the socket the xbox won't boot, is this a good test to see whether I did in fact flash the tsop?

Well, since the xbox wont boot to the onboard TSOP with the chip out, it sounds to me like you did do a TSOP flash then.. and managed to botch it up wink.gif

Where are you connecting D0 to? if you are gounding it then it will always boot to the chip, hence if you remove the chip and the D0 is still grounded the xbox will not boot.

The controller should work with the chip working, if not then you have other problems with it.  If you botched the TSOP then all that means is the xbox won't boot  to its onboard bios.

I get the same problem with my duo, everyting is soldered good. works great flashed amazingly, but sometimes it doesn't boot to the ms dash if i use the eject button.. I soldered the bt wire directly to the point, but from under the mobo, so in case i ever have to take the faceplate off, i don't need to unsolder the bt point..  Yeah, it doesn't really bother me tho
