If you fixed the trace just follow it along untill you reach a via. Then add some flux and solder your d0 wire to this small via or use the one on top it makes no difference !

The chip will not help you with error 6.
error 6 means the drive has been locked with a different mobo/eeprom combination.
Even with a chip the error 6 will be present unless you fit the HDD and the chip in the same box the HDD belongs to.

Once you get teh HD situation fixed, if it still frags only when you connect the D0, then check your LPC soldering as it might not be perfect.

As long as your mod chip install is good, then it should boot fine if you have installed some dashboard on the HD.  ie. Slayers, etc.  if you boot with the slayers Disc in and it still frags, then check your LPC solder job.
