ok im trying to fix my friends xbox. i got the solderless kit from appleguru. comes wit xapter and duox2. i never used them before. i just installed them and the xbox frags, and the duox2's led flashes red. is that an lpc prob or a d0 problem. im guessing its lpc since the xbox always frags when the soldering is bad on the lpc... anyway. can any1 clear things up for me?

u think if i desolder the lpc(its a v.10 xbox) then use the rivits that would work any better?

The other way is to fiddle for ages with the adapter but it can get frustrating

is it definitly the lpc though? because im finding it very hard to believe that it is.... the chip is flashing wich means its getting power.... i prolly messed around with the d0 and the lpc a thousand times.. nothing has changed. i only need this in for like 10 min since im swapping an hdd... and my friend doesnt want his xbox modded so he wont let me solder it in.

Its not the D0 or the BT if it only happens when you enable the chip.
Its either corrupt bios on the chip, faulty chip or bad connections between the adapter and the LPC. the fact the lED flashes indicates power to the chip it does not confirm all the signals.
If appleguru sold you the chip it will be fine he only sells genuine chips. faulty ones are rare but can happen.
My money is on the LPC

well. the duox2 is enabled when powering on with the power button and disabled with the eject.. correct? my xbox frags either way....

If the box FRAGs either way you have done some damage to something during the install.
Remove the chip if it FRAGs you have damage.

i removed the chip plenty of times. when the chip is out it boots normal... besides the fact the hdd clicks and it goes to "your xbox needs service." but thats the whole reason i got a chip so that i can put it in and replace the hdd..

why dont you just take some wire and make a harness for it, you can leave em long enough to set the chip aside get the hdd lockd in and then just remove the wires from the lpc port.

I understand you dont wanna remove that solder from them holes its a pain in the butt, however its solder or remove solder up to you. duox is a pretty good chip, about the only one I use anymore, and I definately buy from appleguru.

Could always be a defective chip.. I'd personally put my money on a bad lpc connection. I think you've already desoldered LPC (As per the IM you sent me), in which case you may as well just install a header now..

In any case, if you think the chip might be defective, send it back and I'd be happy to check it out for you and replace it if it is

Becuase your using a special duox2 solderless solution ( very clever of appleguru i might add ) it will power the chip on with either power or eject. As the chip is wired as allways on. The fragging tells me your d0 is working. The red flashing light means the chip is getting both power and ground. So basically one or more of the other pogo pins might not be touching properly or the chip is bad ( very very slight chance of this ) or it just needs reflashing. Have you tried flicking the little switch on the chip ?

ok im really starting to think its the chip.. i seriously made sure that every pin was inside the lpc...1 question. if the lpc is installed correctly and the chip is off should the xbox boot normal. and if it wasnt installed correctly should the xbox still boot normal? because i put on the lpc tried it and the xbox booted normal, then put on the chip then started to frag...

If you are using the solderless solution then Hack stated the chip is always on. that is why the retail bios does not boot with the chip in.
Appleguru has offered to check the chip for you.
I am sticking with the LPC fault.
