How To Reflash Duox 2 After A Bad Flash
« on: December 26, 2005, 06:33:00 AM »

I've tried to flash bank0 of my Duox 2 chip, but infortunelly somethings gone wrong and my Xbox freeze and now every time I try to power on screen stay blank and the console on but does nothing, my M$ dashboard do not boot, give a 16 error, my bank1 is for v1.6 I think.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
How can I reflash the Duox2 with a good flash so my console works ok?

My Xbox is a v1.0, my chip is the Duox 2 blue with AMD on the bios, my disk is the original but I think the evox I've tried to install cleanit up before reprogram the bios. I do not know anyone with a good xbox with a mod chip, everyone have a Ps2 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Thank for thr help.

You have a lot more than just a bad flash. You dash has files missing hence the error 16 so you will need to sort this.
Bank 1 will work fine in your machine its just not advisable to leave a 1.6 bios running long term on a non 1.6

When I switch to bank1 console power on and off 2 times and then stays on but the eject button blinks rapidly red and green, and screen stays blank, tray don't open in bank0 or bank1 with the mod chip on, this appens when I've tried to install Xbox-New Hd Evox Boot Cd.iso write bios evox2.4.bin on this cd with the menu option flash bios, like they say.

Thank you for your help, I'm going to buy a new duox 2 tomorrow, infortunaly the new one is the white one, DuoX 2 (Cromwell Bios), is there any problem with the hotswap? Is it a good chip? And it arrives by mail, so I won't see it live before buy.
Can I buy a more advanced chip and use the connections already on the board? It have 2 oldering point D0 and BT, and the LPC soldered on the board. My other options here are X-Ecuter 3 CE or X-B.I.T.
They are more expensive than the duox2, especialy te X-Ecuter 3 CE, is a good option,  to buy a more expensive chip?
Thank you.

I believe the duox chips all use the same 12 pin header, BT wire and the D0 wire. so you should be able to just swap the chip out. with minimal soldering depending on how you attached your bt and d0 wires to your present chip, should just be toucing the hot iron to them to release the wires from the old chip and attach to the new one.
there is a pretty good tutorial on how to hotswap this chip pinned in the FAQ here on this forum. It was written by hackdabox and seems pretty straight forward.

remember on a duox white you have a 512kb flash not 256, so please make sure you choose a appropriate sized bios for the flash and this chip.
