I suspect a problem within your serial eeprom allows the linux kernel to boot flashbios but the hacked MS bios relies on the eeprom so it's booting to blank screen. Possibly a ntsc/pal switcher would help or maybe the MS hacked bios you are using is defective. Worse case scenerio would be to start over with the serial eeprom and flash anew with flashbios3 unauthorized.

Hippo, ya know, I have a 1.4 that does the exact same thing.. I swapped the eeprom chip, tried reflashing it with various tools, etc, still no dice.. any other recommendations? wink.gif BTW, I don't think this is the case with eddie, as his m$ bios seems to load fine (other than the dash errors).

As for you, eddiemiller.. You should always slide the bank switch over when you flash so you flash over the other bank and not the bank you booted from, so situations like this don't happen. Assuming your flashes both resulted in "bad flashes", is seems to be the case based on the fact that you tried the chip in two xboxs, you're only option now would be to hotswap with another chip and reflash the current one.

No, you wont be able to flash that way; if you boot from the tsop you'll flash the tsop, if you boot from lpc, you'll flash lpc. There's not reall a way to boot from the tsop and flash lpc (what you're proposing). This is why you need to run an exploit to do a tsop flash.

Sometimes a blank screen is from a bios that only loads partially or gets stuck and readloads the same data over and over. If it's caught in this 'spin cycle" til it times out and the front LED circle turns orange. Sometimes the video encoder dies or the trampsister that powers it does.
