I have been helping more and more people recently due to some idiots making duox2 White clones that have unsupported flashroms on them. The easiest way to see if you have a clone is to look at the colour of the solder pads , if they are gold then it's an original , if they are silver then it's a clone. The great thing about the duox2 chip is that it has 2 bios banks and the great thing about the White chips is that you get 2 chances to flash your chip before it's dead ! ( more if you flick the switch to the dead bank before you flash !).
Most people buy the chip , install it and then try to flashit using FLASHBIOS which is the easiest method but FLASHBIOS doesn't support the HYUNDAI flashrom that is being shipped on some duox2 White clones. The original suox2 White chips will only have a AMD , SST or FUJITSU flashrom so if yours is different then you have a clone and FLASHBIOS will not work for you.
Now once people get no where with FLASHBIOS they try to flash their BIOS using Eurasia but they try to flash it with the new Xecuter 2 5035 bios and they try to flash this bios over cromwell ( bank 0 - switch to the left ) the BIOS is erased and then starts flashing but stops half way through and never continues !
Now you have a working bank1 ( FLASHBIOS ) that can't flash your flashrom and a dead bank0 and you need to Hot Swap to Flash or send the chip to someone for Hotswap flashing !
Please buy original chips from guys in the Buy & Sell thread to avoid the hassle. If you do get a clone either return it and get an original or flash it like this...
Leave the lid off your xbox and flick the switch to Bank0 (CROMWELL) and boot Eurasia. Now flick the switch to BANK1 (FLASHBIOS) with the xbox still on - use a toothpick or similar non metalic object ! Now insert your BIOS disc and flash over the top of FLASHBIOS. This way you still have Eurasia on your bank0 so you can have another go if needed.
Your BIOS CD should contain a dummy file and a BIOS.BIN in capitol letters. The bios file you should use is ...
Xbox V1.0 - V1.5 X2 4981 (512k)
Xbox V1.6 - V1.6b Evox M8 Plus V1.6 (512K)
Do not try to use the X2 5035 bios as it doesn't work on duox2 clones and the X2 5035 bios offers no advantage over the Evox M8 Plus V16 apart from letting you play with some startup options !
If you need to resize your BIOS file then use EVTOOL for Evox M8 Plus V1.6 or XBTOOL for the X2 4981.
