In order to reflash the chip, can I start the flash process using the Eurasia disc and then swap chips and insert the bios disc containing flashbios when it asks?  And if so, do I name bios "bios.bin"?  Or leave it "flashbios_v301"?

Disregard last post as I figured it out.  I did what was said to do in this link http://www.llamma.co.../eeprom_fix.htm and I got the EEPROM from my friend, patched it, renamed to bios.bin and resized to 512K and got the "EEPROM flash - status : SUCCESSFUL" message, aaaaaaaaaaaaand still no A/V.  But there (obviously) was Video with that FlashBIOS 3.0.1 so it can't be a motherboard problem.  I'll just keep trying to do the same thing that site says and see if it magically works.

If anyone has used the programs in the link I provided above (or has a different way of doing this) please let me know if I did this correctly or if I should do something else.

What I did was grab the EEPROM backup using a friend's modded box (also tried his EEPROM), went to directory in dos prompt, typed "addeeprom cromwell-patched.bin eeprom.bin", and used xbtool to change the cromwell-patched.bin to bios.bin (changed size to 512K) and flashed to my chip. The Cromwell screen showed up and said the EEPROM flash was successful, I flashed a new bios using the Eurasia flash disc, but still no A/V with new bios or with MS Dash. Was that process done right?

OK. Well you have flashed your EEPROM and that hasn't helped you. Do not bother playing with this anymore as thats not your problem. It was worth a try as this has saved a few xboxes but not your's sorry. You could try flashing the Evox M8 PLus Bios to your chip and see if you get video with that. I have a xbox V1.3 with motherboard issues that has no av with any X2 bios but works fine with M8 bios. However i don't think this will help you as your MS BIOS doesn't work either and this tells me there is a solder splash ( could be very small and hard to find or trace damage on your motherboard ). Put the Duox2 in another xbox and flash it with the unofficial Flashbios V3.01 on bank 0 and Evox M8 Plus on the bank 1.

HackDaBox !

PS i know you must be getting sick of hearing it's a solder splash / motherboard damage but it has to be that now !

If it booted the flash bios in Linux and showed a screen in flashbios and when you flashed it to M8 or X2 the screen went blank then you still have an eeprom problem. There are 3 families of eeproms in the box, your friends eeprom would work if it was from the same Xbox version as you have. Use flashbios 3.0.3 unauthorized to restore a generic eeprom from the proper family.

uhh.gif , so I'm guessing it's a motherboard issue.  I'll give it about a week to try and find solder splashes/burnt traces, and if no luck, I'll bite the bullet and get a new motherboard  grr.gif
