Quick Question Bout Duox2 On 1.6 Box
« on: September 14, 2005, 09:00:00 PM »

hey all, let me start off by stating that i have installed many different chips in many versions of xbox's but i've not had much experience with 1.6 box's, and what i have done on them so far has all worked fine. Till now.  Ok now my problem. I have read that flashbios sometimes has problems with the 1.6 by displaying a black screen. Well i just installed a DuoX2 on a buddies machine that is a 1.6 and im getting the black screen over and over. I've rebooted the machine 50-100 times to no avail. If i switch banks i get the Linux cromwell bios screen no problem. One thing i have noticed is that there is no L.E.D. flashing on the chip at anytime. I would have thought that this meant that my soldering was the problem, but the fact that i get the linux cromwell screen seems to negate that. Mabey the L.E.D. on this particular chip is just fried? I have used the B.T. method of install and if i hit the eject switch it boots up the M$ bios just fine as well. Can anybody see any problems that im overlooking, or do i just need to be more patient and try rebooting untill i get the screen up? Also is it possible to flash the chip with a 1.6 only bios in another box that is not a 1.6 and then just stick it back into the 1.6 or will this damage the chip or older box? Any help appreciated. Thanks guys,

Also i have noticed that if i boot up the box with the black screen and just leave it for a moment after about 1 min the front panel L.E.D. turns from green to orange. Is this just becuase its not displaying any video, or is this a clue as to the problem?

We never could get the 2nd bank to work on my Duox2. We had to flash over the cromwell bios.  I have a 1.6 box.

Hope this answers your question.

The black screen indicates the bios you tried to load got stuck and didn't load completely. In your case the bios is the wrong one for that 1.6. The orange LED after a minute means the bios load timed out and Lclk has shut down.
