if you installed avalaunch and you ripped a game to the hard disk, then the chip isn't the problem.

Some games need to have patches applied so that they can boot off the hard disk. Get an updated version of dvd2xbox and that may fix your ripping problems.
I would be willing to bet that other game backups will boot fine.

Deleting your cache drive, setting the date in the MS dash, or changing your country in the ms dash may also resolve the problem.

Avalaunch does turn the LED red also, so thats not a problem
