The only problems of this nature have been with the clone chips usually. Does the message state unknown flash type or Flash Not writeable?

The only time I've experienced this was with a bad solder joint on the female header on the chip.. So since you said yourself it was a bad solder job.. I'd start there wink.gif

I can only add 09 00 is flash core space not the device at all. There is some bios on the chip, at least 2 bytes of one.

There are a lot of these cloned and problems have occured in so much as they seem to only accept a 256k per bank flash. Flashing with 512K results in corruption of the bank osmetimes not recoverable.
If you could put a pic of the chip up it can be confirmed if its a clone or genuine.

This is a genuine Duo X2. Comparing the 2 there is a difference in the colour of the writing for D0 and BT not to mention the general build quality.
This type of chip WILL hotswap and flash in a 1.6 as i use them all the time. The flash on these is not protected i suspect a clone but would value other opinions here

I don't know the numbering but, taking the chip as in last the photo, is it normal that pins 1 and 7 are linked?

Its pin 9 and BT that are linked to enable the chip as always on.

They are both ground. This has nothing to do with the none flashing of the chip
