error 05 is because the chip was disabled, and your hard drive is unlocked.
As for the fragging... check your install quickly, make sure nothing has come loose in transportation, and that there are no cold solder joints

Black screen is an indication that you are on the wrong bank or you have an intermitant connection basicly what otherguy already mentioned but you need to get in there and wiggle that pin header while it boots and find a sweet spot.

im the person that modded it.  the xbox was also in the trunk of a car from ny to nj. i t hink that mayve disconnected the BT or  D0 wire.

This is something loose on the install. The HDD is unlocked also whcih is why it will not boot from thre M$ bios.
You need to redo the installation again. Transporting the Xbox should not cause a problem with a soldered in chip. Lock the hDD once the chip is running again

the hdd was provided and will not lock. i have tried a few programs. but i dont bleieve it worked. its also not used for live at all.  im a little bit confused though to the problem.    he first told me about it not working at all and wouldnt even turn on.  then with the chip on it frags n without it error 5. but he didnt describe that problem at first. he said at first that hed turn it on and it would turn on but only have black lines with occasional jumping white lines. so originally i figured maye it got switched to pal mode. then he told mei t worked fine until hep ut it in the trunk of his car and drove home from nj to ny or vise versa.  my only thing is it was about 95degrees here t hat day. it was also in a bag in the trunk. maybe it wasnt the problem. my only thing is that ive modded alot of xboxs and this is the first ive ever had a problem with the soldering not holding. but this is the second time. ive never heard of a mod job coming undone twice. plus how safe is an xbox in a trunk?

The only thing you can do is get the box back to sort it. I am guessing the poster can not sort it if you modded it to start with.
I have shipped boxes all over via Royal Mail with no problems and that is less secure than the back of the car.
It might be obvious when you get the box back what the problem is.

yes i know it just seems sort of strange to me two times it stops working

first time it worked about month n a haf - 2 months. he brought it back and both ends of the D0 wire came undone(that seemed wierd). now 3 weeks later it stopped working again
