Duox2 Just Died
« on: June 26, 2005, 03:39:00 AM »

I just modded a xbox with the date of 3-12-2003 with a duox2 white. I followed all the steps and bam, I in there.

15 minutes later I decided that I was going to put the case backup together and continue my game play and I get a 3boot frag.

I need nothing different as when it work then when It didnt. Not modded yet, regular ms dash was up and running. nothing was dropped. and now this. If someone is willing to fix this bad boy up for a awesomely decent price. I would thank that person very greatly or if its an easy fix just let me know.

I dont get it!
Take care

I did use the hackdabox and it did work very well until the xbox's turrets laugh.gif  kicked in.
Take care

Well if your saying it worked with the lid off and then once you put the lid on it stopped working then you must of ripped the BT wire off the point behind the eject button with the dvd-rom's legs !

Just open up and double check all wires are connected ok if anything was ripped off then solder it back on. If nothing looks bad check this Link!

I did the bt to g on the chip for always on. Thats ok right
Only reason why is that the xbox fragged before hand no vid sound type of deal.

I went back and checked the board just now and Im clueless. the pin header is good and the D0 is good and runs through the header to the screw hole closest to the lpc. Soldered on and is good.

Anyelse maybe? or are my eyes not trained for what could be?

a frag usually means that your d0 to ground wire is fine , check your bt to pin 9 wire , and go over all your lpc points with the soldering iron again ,

Man thats a sorry excuse for a picture. However,
I pulled the chip off the xbox and I get the same situation. 3 frags and the xbox is out with a red green led to top it off.
Now Im guessing that my chip is good and my problem is with the board. Take care

AARRGGHH my eyes !

Man that picture burn't my eyes ! OK seriously get a new camera of atleast 5 megapixels smile.gif

So you have linked BT to G ( pin9 ) and yeah thats ok. So the onboard BIOS does not work ? it just gives a black screen and no audio ? If this is correct then if D0 was not making a good contact you would get the black screen ( no video - no audio ) so your D0 must be working !

Just pull the chip off and put it back on and see if it will boot. Other wise i guess just resolder everything it only takes a couple of minutes and it won't hurt !

Well if you have heaps of solder on it allready just heat the joints and don't add anymore solder !

Or if you have a multimeter then use it to check the continuity of each joint. If it worked once and now doesn't it usually means the soldering.

The soldering from what I can tell from the picture looks off.  This is how your solder should look flowed properly.

However, Im at wits end with this. I have resoldered the entire process again and nothing. Ill take it on a burner in my mind as time passes and try again until I get it or someone helps me out

So the xbox frags with the chip removed ? then you have a problem with the
motherboard. You need to have a good look at it with a magnifying glass using a
good light ( or outside in the sun ) and remove any solder splashes / balls you find.

Once the motherboard does not frag anymore then put the chip back in.

HackDaBox !

PS use solder wick to clean up any solder splashes / balls !

Do you have a flatbed scanner ? if you do then lay the board on it and scan it and post the pic here or grab a mates digital camera.

Did you find any solder splashes / balls ?

There is no point putting the pinheader and or chip back in if it's fragging now !

You have removed the D0 to ground wire haven't you ?
