Hippo plugs his chips when he can, not a problem for me. I was praising his chip compared to the Duo in one of these threads and he remained modest and said not to knock the Duo. He must have been pissed the other day when his Duo gave up the ghost. I'm not sure how easy it is to communicate with Duo developers but having Hippo around here is nice. I have been enticed with the Duo X2 lites, but not being a major installer I've decieded to use Hippo's. I understand his comments can be reflected as promoting his chips. So his opinions may always look biased in a small or large way. But if the information is solid I would hear him out. Just my take on things.

I have no problems with Hippo giving his chips a plug at all. I also have no doubt they are very good. The thing I would dispute most is the inference that all other cheapmod type chips are no good.
I also agree with the plain truth that most of the problems on modchip installs in here are related to installation, misflashing or other user error. I cannot bring myself to judge a modchip on a comment from say someone who has a problem with a chip install and slags the chip down only to find that it was say plugged on the pinheader the wrong way or flashed with a non 1.6 bios on a 1.6.
The only thing I can base an opinion on is the ones I have come into contact with. I have no bios one way or another for modchips, if a chip I use works great then I will use it and say so. If something changed my mind about that chip then I would also say so.
I love the AppleX VI pro chips but you don't see many references to them as they probably are not sold in such vast quantities.
I don't think you will see install problems with Hippos chips listed in here at all because I think the people that buy these are probably more clued up and experienced, often buying for some of the features they include, so I think getting these running is straightforward for them (Cue for someone who joined today and has never installed one to say"I bought one")
I think the reason we see more posts about problems with DuoX Aladdin etc is they sell more and are more of new modders choice of chip due to mass advertising and price cutting

As what Chancer and HackDaBox mentioned, all non-working DuoX 2 installs are usually traced to poor installations or the inexperience of the installer. Of course, poor quality clones are excluded from this conclusion.

In conclusion, the most value-for-money reliable mod chip that really works well in all xbox versions is still the DuoX2 Lite (check BST section for great offers).

DuoX2 Lite is the no frills version of the more expensive DuoX 2. But since the LED and bios bank selection switch of DuoX 2 will be hidden once the xbox cover is put on, functionally there is no difference between DuoX2 and DuoX2 Lite when installed. The end user won't be able to tell whether it is the DuoX2 or the DuoX2 Lite that has been installed, so the price difference of US$2 is worth saving (for installers at least)

Most of the troubles people have is with white DuoX2. FlashBIOS in bank1 is difficult to boot in v1.6 and flashing from Cromwell in bank0 is confusing. Both FlashBIOS and Cromwell require the exact bios file size (512kb) to be used.

One thing good about DuoX2 Lite is that all of them come with a working Evox M8+_1.6 bios which is ready to go for v1.6. Even in non v1.6, using Evox to flash is much easier because Evox will take care of the resizing. Inexperienced person should just download HackDaBox's Reflash Disc and use.

I flashed every single one of DuoX2 and DuoX2 Lite and only need to hotswap flash once due to 256kb file size being selected in FlashBIOS. I never have any screw up with blue DuoX2 and DuoX2 Lite because flashing using Evox flash disc is much easier. Hotswap flashing is the quickest way to deal with screwed bios, so having a second bank to standby is quite useless for modders.

i didn't do the install myself, i had a modchip installer do it. they are the best console modding/repair in Jamaica so i trusted them.

Whats the track record of the duo x. if it is installed correctly and everythin else is done properly?

7 out of 12 threads on the lead page are Doux problems at this time. How reliable does it look?

I guess it comes down to major installers, say a few that have done over 100 Duo X2 installs. If the chip were subpar you would know right away from your clients. Are there any heavy Duo installers out there that can give solid information on what their reliability is? I have done around six Duo X2 installs in the last four months with no issues.

I really can not see why this question keeps being asked. Is it because Hippo questioned them?
The only reasons they are seen in these forums is because people misflash, mis -install and blame the chip first (This does not only aply to DuoX 2 chips but all chips).
