how do you know that the chip is working or enabled still? The error message you described is only displayed by the default MS dash.
are you sure a hacked bios is loading?

that means that the chip is working properly. What dvd drive do you have and what media are you using?

It could be the media, different xboxe dvd-rom drives like different medias, they don't all play the same brand of media. Or it could also be your dvd-rom drive (unless it reads originals fine then its not the dvd-rom)..Try swapping dvd-roms with the 1.6, if it works then its most likely the media you are using.

Yea, the dvd rom plays regular games with no problem.   I dont have my other modded xbox right now, so i cant swap.  Could this be a soldering problem??

I think its your dvd drive still, try the other drive when you get your modded xbox back.  Everything else sounds like its working like it should.

There should be an answer here on the forums.  If it was me, I would say my chip is working because you get the hacked boot screen.  So I would try an X2 bios, since you have a 1.4 box.  Worth a shot.

Re Do the soldering on the LPC first. a high resistance connection caused by a poor soldered joint can cause this.
