Duox2 And Xbox Live
« on: May 17, 2005, 02:30:00 PM »

Hi,

I have a Duox2 installed on a 1.0 Xbox. The Xbox still has its original 8gb hard drive in it. Can I install a dashboard on the 8gb hard drive, put one game on it, and still play Xbox live when the chip is disabled?

Thanks in advance for answering my question.

Yep! Just make sure that you're booting the stock MS Dash.

Thanks for all the replies.  Is "ModdingManiac"  saying that I can put a larger hard drive in the Xbox, as long as I put the dash and games on F:, or is he just saying to put the dash and apps on the stock 8gb drive? I thought that MS could tell if you are running a larger hard drive.

Thanks again for answering my questions.

I'm talking about files not hard drives, only reason I mentioned it was becuase there are some people who claimed to have been banned for files on C:...Plus you don't know MS plans..here read this about hard drives:

Sorry otherguy - that's what I meant
I meant booting to MS dash with the chip off...

Yeah. I'm a believer in the marraige theory, and i I never do the whole HDD stealth thing. If you look at the polls...

But who knows - we really don't.

Antz raises an important point that you should def. know about.

XBL records your hdd serial and bios hash. If they change after registration then you get banned so you can't update your HDD after registering if you want to use XBL

Have you looked at using XBoxConnect or similar service? Not quite the same, but a good service, non-the-less.

If you go on live with the 8Gb HD then unless you flash you EEPROM you are going to have to use that HD when ever you go on live.

What I have done is use two hd's.. one which I have left standard and I use it for live with my DuoX2 disabled.

Then when I want to use the mod chip I use the bigger harddrive..

I also have a switch which is intergrated with my power and eject buttons.. when ever eject is hit.. the standard harddrive powers up... if power is hit then the bigger HD loads up with the chip also enabled.

I used the Xbox xtender to fit both drives in...

nice job - sounds like a decent design, how are you controlling the power to the drives from the reset/eject buttons? relays?
