I Hate Duox2
« on: April 25, 2005, 09:06:00 PM »

ive installed 6 or 7 of these chips now, and im just fed up w/ all the damn problems.

this perticular one im doing now, the status led doesnt work, cromwell 2.32 is on bank 0 like is should be, and there is nothing on bank 1, actually when i switch to bank one a black screen comes up and i cant remember what is says (something not found, blah blah 201)

so now i have no choice but to use piece of shit cromwell, so i choose to do "etherboot", doesnt work (never has for me) and it will not default to 192.168.0.99 like flashbios does (not sure if it should).  so i try to flash via CD.

i make 512k bios.bin and use 100MB dummy file, no go.  then i try making the bios and dummy file an ISO, still doenst work.  so i throw another duox2 that i know works and try to hotswap and flash, i get "flash not writable".  yes everything is correct in the .ini

now im fuckin stuck and out of options and ive tried different media, many times.  im sick of this shit....i guess you get what you pay for when buying a 14.99 piece of shit chip, NEVER AGAIN!!

I wonder if its one of those clones, someone else was having trouble with one just like your experiencing. They found out it was a clone.

only way you are as close to 100percent sure as you can get that you wont get clones is to buy from divineo or another official distributor of team omega merchandise.  I know robotpig gets his from divineo...so no clones there.....I wouldnt think that modchip man would sell clones knowingly.....but hey...ive seen stranger things

so is there anyway i can try to flash this thing now?  all i have to work with is cromwell 2.32, since bank 1 is fucked and from what i just read the "boot from cd" or "eitherboot" will only load specific linux stuff not meant for flashing the chip.

there has to be another way to flash this thing....

You may want to switch to bank 1 when you go to flash, so you can keep your bank 0 as a backup.

or connect the BT point to the 3.3V pin on the chip before you hot swap - the chip needs to be enabled when it is swapped in so you can flash it.

no no, i gave up after 4hrs of bullshit.  ive tried eurasia, and i get to the point where in insert the bios disc and then again i get "flash not writable"

catdog2: i have another good duox2 here where the BT is connected to a 3.3 point of the chip and it also gives me "flash not writable"

Yeah maybe there clones. DuoX's have been good too me. They have provided an affordable and reliable solution for many who dont have funds to buy a fourth generation chip.
