Duox 2 Knockoffs?
« on: April 10, 2005, 10:54:00 PM »

There are no duox clones to my knowledge.  That is not to say that there arent dodgy chips that poor suppliers resell when they find out they dont work.  try the other chip in another xbox just to see.

EDIT: Just saw the last part of your post.... a reliable supplier for your modding needs is Creztor .  Its not as close as you would like, as he is based in TW, however he has the best customer service i have ever dealt with, not to mention good prices and cheap shipping.  It took packages longer to get from the US to me then it does for my orders to arrive from tw.... about 7 days on average.  you can order EMS shipping for 15 USD.....if you order at the right time, your order has the potential to be on a plane that day (gotta take time change into account)....9 or 10 hours later....chips are in your country....if you live in a pretty big city you should have them that day....i only use this when i am in a rush....it is well worth the money

They were packaged as new in a two compartment (mod & header) sealed antistatic bag, but  the soldering left something to be desired, a lot of flux/sloppy around the switches.

Just wondered about the knockoffs because I did see somewhere here there were some of another mod.

Supposed to be getting replacements, we'll see how it works out.

The chips are not knock offs. It would seem what has happened is the flash rom for the Blue type has strayed into the Flashroms for the White.

Hit eject, boots xbox mode. No mod chip, just frags.

This is not a chip problem. I suspect as it happened after the HDD install that is where the problem lies. You will know when you get the new chips but 300 plus blue ones and not one faulty yet fingers crossed

From what I understand some distributors have customed made chips. So it could have been that some White Edition Duox2 were preflashed like the Blue ones for a particular distributor.

YES there are DuoX2 clones in the market place.

I've got a sample one coming from a port city in China. It is fully proclaimed to be a clone and no one is hiding that fact from me.

I havn't seen any in white, but that doesn't mean that they aren't out there.

Yes DuoX 2 clones do exist have for quite some time.

Not according to Team Omega. the pS2 ones have been cloned I know and I once had a Green DuoX2 that looked dodgy but DuoX chips are not widely cloned.
Could you post a picture of the clone please? How do you know its a clone?

What about the blue ones? Where are these clones available at the moment and more importantly what price? They look really poorly made. Beats me why they even call them by the same name as the original.
Like I said i have seen 1 green one (sent to me by silent scream) and it looked an obvious fake.

Blue are available also, but they only had white in stock at the time.  You are right, one look at the chips and you can see they are clones, worse is there are many HK suppliers selling these chips either delibrately telling their customers they are original even though they know they are clones, or they dont even know they are clones, as not many people know DuoX 2 clones are on the market.  So you may find some shops with clone stock and they honestly arent even aware they are clones.  Easiest way to spot the clone is an extremely poor paint job on the PCB, soldering on the PCB is nowhere near as neat and clean as originals and the IC without any printing on it has been scratched down to remove its markings.  Price well lets say a little more than Aladdin clones, and if you see anyone doing really amazing low prices on small quantities, then its a clone.

the chip can say HUNDI, AMD or FUJITSU on them..

white or blue..

you need a 512 bios for the doux 2 chip to flash..

m8plus_v1.6 comes as a 256, you must change and install in a 512
for a version 1.6 box.

The mark up on a doux makes it less of a clone target it's already dirt cheap.

I've now found 2 blue clones and 1 white clone.

I'll post pictures shortly next to an original.

The ones I'm finding are extremely well made, but aren't marked with DuoX logos. They use the Xilinx CPLD. I can't see what they're using for the bios tho. I'm going re-brand them so they don't get resold as real duos.

I'll be selling them shortly... For a very very low price.

Keep an eye out.

I'm aiming for May 5th
