i dont know if the flash bios changes the color to orange but i know on a 1.6 you have to  keep turning your xbox on and off till the screen comes on "can take up to 30 reboots" words from chancer himself

munkle is right but flick the bank switch and try that ! You see you have 2 bios's available to you. One is flashbios which just needs a bios disk (cdrw or dvd-r disc containing BIOS.BIN and a dummy file ) or the other is the Cromwell linux bios which needs 2 discs , a BIOS disc like above and a Eurasia Pro Generic Flash Disc.

Your problem sounds more soldrring related though at his stage. Do you have any pics of your install that might help us diagnose the problem ?

Does the red led blink on and off on the modchip itself if not your lpc is not done correctly.

Well good news, I think. The red light does blink on and off. I will see about making a flash bios cd.

Yes thats good news it means atleast some of rebuild works and the chip is getting power. You should get a display on the screen though ! Reboot a few times or try flicking the switch on the modchip and then booting it

If you wanna make a BIOS disc then check this out.

Ok, few final things before I give up for tonight and go to bed (its 3 am hah). The m8 plus bios I've downloaded is only 256k, and not 512. Does it need to be 512k, and if so, how can I make that happen. and if not, it could be because i'm using memorex cd-rw's, which, according to team xecuter, suck ass. Now, I got the xbox to get music from them, but I don't know whats going on. Maybe it can't read it, or maybe it needs to be bigger. Maybe its either,  or maybe it's both, lol. Kinda like a science experiment gone awry. Also the screen is too big to fit on my tv. I dunno if theres a way to fix that. Mostly, thats all for now. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for helping the noob!

Congratulations that means your soldering job was all good. Now the bios disc you are making is good for the FLASHBIOS which is the other bank so you can flick the switch and try and get it to boot ( this is not your fault , it can take up to 30 times of turning the xbox on and off for the flashbios screen to appear) but once it does it will flash your bios using nothing else but the bios disc you have created but i think you will need to make the bios 512k. To make it 512k simply open it in EVTOOL and click on 512k and then save it as BIOS.BIN and reburn your disc.

Download Evtool from here ...

http://home.alltel.n...shd/evtool.html

Now if you can't get FLASHBIOS screen or appear or you don't have the patience then you can flick the switch and boot the Cromwell Bios. The Cromwell bios needs the same BIOS Disc you have allready made (possibly with some changes) and a Eurasia Pro Generic Flash Disc.

Download the Eurasia Pro Generic Flash Disc 1.2 from xbins now

And then your simply burn the iso image to a cdrw. You simply insert this Eurasia boot disc at the cromwell screen to get started then you will be asked for your bios disc. Try your bios disc as it is and see if it works if not i will help some more.

The m8 plus bios I've downloaded

If you flashed M8+ and not M8+.16  then you have flashed the wrong bios for the version of xbox you have. If so the only ways out are a programmer or a hotswap.Unless you can get flashbios to show its face on the other bank

I know the flashbios is annoying but at this stage it's still your best bet. It won't damage anything and just keep trying but once it does boot up to flashbios on the screen , flick the switch so you will overwrite the dead bank. Then make sure you have the right cdrw with the m8 V1.6 bin file on it and choose load bios from disc. Please note using this flashbios there is no need for the Eurasia disc.

dude, I did this last night, had installed two white duox2 chips, first one worked a charm then the 2nd one did what you said so what I did to get around it was put that chip into teh first one and flashed teh bios M8_16.bin onto it and plugged it back into the original xbox then voila! it boots right away on bank1 !!

hope it helps.  smile.gif
