Duo X2 Question
« on: March 04, 2005, 09:14:00 PM »

ok I know that the white Duo X2 Cromwell Edition needs flashed, but does the blue Duo X2 also need flashed? or does it come with bios?
and if it does come with bios, what bios?
so what im really asking is if i install the blue one, will it play my backups without flashing the chip?

not sure what bios that comes on it but they claim that its preflashed and ready to go. So all you have to do is install the chip and then your dashboard/apps and your ready to go.

Chancer,

Why do so many people say the Duox2 Blue version come shipped with M8 and M8 V1.6. All mine have allways came shipped with X2 and M8V1.6. Where did this myth come from ?

The blue DuoX 2s from robotpig.com come with X2 4979 in Bank 0 and Evox M8+_1.6, with .67 LBA48 and IGR already added, in Bank 1.

If you flash from the latest evox dash it will resize the bios anyway. So 256k will work even though the chip does indeed have 2 x 512K banks
The new blue ones can be identified as they come with a bank switch protector fitted (piece of plastic over the bank switch) which also shows team omega have listened regarding transit damage to the bank switch.
I think the M8 and M8.16 is a guess by people that have not installed these or do not know the difference between M8 and an xecuter bios even though when bank 0 is booted it says xecuter2 under the X logo
I have never needed to flash the DuoX2 from the standard bios banks included other than to mess about with custom colours and stuff and the blue ones I reflashed with Flashbios 3.03 to do some testing. These chips work as is in everything I have tried and I only Re_flash to add a custom touch so I know if a customer has re-flashed and caused problems as my customisation is missing

No Evox can resize for you, same as raincoat 0.7. I simply use whatever 256KB bios files I have.

I stand corrected. strange becuase only a few hours ago i replied to another post and mentioned that evox will auto resize the bios for you but in another breath forgot myself.
