Upgrading From An Xt To A Duox2
« on: March 02, 2005, 10:33:00 PM »

I currently have a 1.0 box with an Aladdin XT (always on) and it's using a pinheader.  I came across a DuoX2 (white edition) and I would like to replace it with the Aladdin.

The pin header currently has pins 3, 4 and 12 removed and D0 on the mobo is grounded for an always on install.  Can I simply plug the Duo into the pin header and connect BT to ground (pin 2 on the quicksolder pad)?

Thanks!

Ahhh pin 9 for 3.3V. Guess the BT on the Duos is a bit diff than the Aladdins.

Thanks!

I just did a lpc rebuild on this customers box and now I'm going to toss my old Aladdin in, assuming all goes well I can then fiddle around with my new DuoX2  biggrin.gif

Why on earth would you want to replace the Aladdin XT with the Duox2. Aladdins work great on older sytems. In fact I would never install a Duox2 on a non 1.6 xbox unless i'm all out of Aladdins (which has happened a lot of times).

the Duo has a LED that blinks red when the mod is on, is this normal?

Yes, that is correct behaviour and is meant for troubleshooting purpose.

Two questions though, I hooked up my BT using the ALT point from Chancer's sig. When I press power the xbox boots up with the mod on, when I press eject the box boots up with the mod off and the tray pops out, is this the correct operation? (seems opposite of what ckh2004 described)

Yep it should indeed boot from the power button into the modchips bios. Good chips these. I have had no problems.
