How Do I Install Duo X2 For Always On?
« on: March 01, 2005, 12:41:00 PM »

I think that I read somewhere that you can connect the BT to another spot on the chip for always on operation.  Is this all that is required and if so, where do i connect it?

Thanks in advance.

If its a 1.0-1.5 version xbox then connecte D0 on the motherboard to ground and then connect BT on the chip to Pin 9 on the chip (labelled pin G on Duo's diagrams)

If its a 1.6 xbox then you will need to cut a trace (go here: http://xbox.bula.nu/...install_1.6.asp ) and then connect BT on the chip to Pin 9 on the chip (labelled pin G on Duo's diagrams)

Thanks for the quick reply.

Just so I have it straight, after grounding d0 on board do I still need to connect d0 to the chip?
And I connect bt on the chip to G on the chip not bt from the switch to to G on the chip.

Sorry, I just want to be clear before I get started.

Ground D0 on the board and leave the chip D0 unconnected.

Alright, I need some help troubleshooting.  I connected BT on the chip to point G on the chip and I used the alternate d0 on the bottom of the board (as illustrated from team xecuter tut for x2.3 lite) and connected it to pin A on the bottom.  When I try to power on I get three attempts and a frag.  All my joints look good, should I try connecting the d0 somewhere else?

I'm at a loss.
I think the box is a 1.3 since it's mfg date is 7-31-03 and it has a connexant chip.

I confirmed pin A and d0 from top of board are grounded via test light.  However I also get a light from point E on the chip is that right?

i would say you are more than half way there m8, as id class the d0 connection as being a lot more difficult  than the lpc

Thanks antz, I cranked the heat up to 850 and just retouched the lpc points and ... Problem solved, YAY.  Did ok for not soldering anything in some years i guess.

Thanks also to Modding Maniac and Chancer, your wisdom is appreciated.

If you cut the trace then there is no need to connect D0 to the chip. All you need to do is make sure BT on the chip is connected to Pin 9 (Pin G) on the chip. This actually makes the install a lot easier (aslong as you don't mess up cutting the trace). There are no extra wires just cut the trace, rebuild the LP and insert the chip in the header pins, no resistor needed.

Like Antz said though you won't be able to play xbox live since the chip will always be On (although these days that probably the best setup if you aer going to mod your xbox since it seems Micorsoft is banning people all over the place, i just keep an extra unmodded system for xbox live)

QUOTE
I am thinking that Duomodchip.com could do a lot worse than to pick the threads in these forums and make up a decent install guide

I think thats a little harsh. The diagrams team omega provide are very comprehensive and straight forward to follow. they can not be expected to provide install diagrams for wiring the chip to work always on or indeed any other method other than the way the chip is designed to be installed and work.
I don't think it matters if you produce a 5 page book on a chip people will still struggle due to varying install skill levels and the fact that some people just are not that good with instruction sheets but probably better with a demo video

I am at present putting together install all ways guides for this chip and others which will be on my web site, but its slow progress due to time restrictions and large workload. If anyone wants to contribute a guide to help people (yes even spiderchips, custom evox ini etc etc) I will upload them and give credit for them on the site. PM me and I will give you details.
I intend to submit the guide for Duox when finished to Team Omega but not sure if it will be used.
