on the white version, bank 0 is cromwell and bank1 is flashbios3.03 (or so i believe) the blue duoX2 has (allegedly) evox M8 on bank0 ( for versions 1.0 to 1.5) and has (again allegedly) got evox M-16 on bank1 for 1.6/b versions.

I say allegedly as i installed (first install, yay for me:) )a blue duox yesterday on a 1.1 and when it booted up the flash screen had executer at the bottom of the screen and when i did a bios check from slayers it came up as bios unknown. Why? i don't know. But it all works good, so should i really bother trying to flash the bios?

i say this as my v1.0 modded a couple of years back and still running strong has only got  an evox2.2 bios . i upgraded the dash to +3935 (or the latest on slayers disk) which cured some ftp probs and other than that i can see no prob with having that old bios, as  it works fine. Can anyone justify/elaborate on why the need for a newer bios.?

thanks.I was hoping that the new bios- the unknown one- would have the ability for 137+ gig drives, but on slayers disc(well at least the way i'm using it ) it appears that i have to flash/patch the bios for +137 gig support?

Ther Blue DuoX chips have X2 bios on bank 0 not M8. They have M8.16 on bank 1
The newer ones have M8+.16 on bank 1 (you can tell the newer ones as they shipped with  a plastic protector over the bios switch to prevent damage in transit)
The white DuoX2 do have flash bios 3.03 on bank 1 and it can take 20 or 30 reboots to get the flash screen to show on a 1.6. when the flash screen comes up the chip can be flashed or if you feel lucky flash it blind on the blank screen.
If you want to add a name in evoxdash for your bios. Open up the ini file on your xbox and look down the list of flash IDs to where it says current. Copy this info and add the name you want to call the bios then paste the whole line into the list for the flash IDs and thats it.
There is a pinned guide in the relevant section relating to this.
