hi guys, i was wondering if there was a way to switch banks without having to open up the xbox and switch them on the chip.  I know that you can disable/enable the chip by pressing the power button or whatnot, but was just wondering if it was possible to switch bioses w/out opening up the xbox.  thanks.

I dont see why you couldn't remove the surface switch, and replace it with an extended similar switch.  Perhaps you could do it and post a pic!

I do this on every duo-x 2 I install. go to radio shack and pick up a micromini toggle switch or slide switch. you need a spdt switch(single pole double throw). take 3 stands of  kynar wire, put them in the end of a power drill and hold the other end of the wires. this will twist 3 wires together nice and neat. then just desolder the switch on the chip and solder on the wires. add your switch somewhere on the outside and you're done. i like the spdt slide switch from ratshack. it installs neatly in one of the square holes underneath the front of the xbox.

The desolder braid its probably the easiest way to go.

use desolder braid to get the solder off. there will still be a small amt under the switch mounting points and it will still be solidly mounted. to get it off, touch each of the six contact points with your soldering iron while applying pressure to the switch. do one side, then the other. if you are putting enough pressure on the switch, every time you heat one of the contact points, you will feel it click and it will eventually lift off the solder pads without damaging them.
