Duox2 Professional Install, Doesnt Work
« on: February 20, 2005, 07:16:00 PM »

Figured I would update with some pictures and what not. I have made a little progress.

The power button = mod disabled
the eject button = mod enabled

This is the reverse of what duox2 is suppose to do. No idea why. Anyhow I have installed slayers 2.6 locked hdd etc etc everything was fine I had rebooted the dash maybe 10 times testing things. All of a sudden it stopped working. I can still boot fine without the modchip into the MS bios, but with mod enabled I am getting no video on my tv. Here are soem pics of the install, looks pretty dam clean to me,

yep looks like the install has been fked up , he has connected the Bt point on the chip to the Bt point used by the aladdin chips , it should go to behind the eject button like shown here im not sure if the reason it aint working now is because theres maybe been some damage done to the chip , all you can do is connect Bt to the correct point and try it , id say even if you are a noob @ soldering you can make the Bt connection no problem or you could try the alternative point shown here(thanx chancer)(remember its the duox2 you have,so make sure its the alternative point for that chip u use)

p.s - excellent example of why pics of an install sometimes help to diagnose the problem  beerchug.gif

**edit** u wanna be telling the so called "Professional installer" that he aint so "Professional " rotfl.gif

Little update, I have moved my bt wire to the rear of the eject switch. The buttons now function as they are suppose to, power = mod on and eject = mod off

But iI still have a blank screen with mod enabled. Any ideas?

Works flawlessly with mod disabled i been playing nhl2005 for a couple hours, no freezes

1st off if i was u i would just send it back to him and make him pay all shipping.
my guess is that the aladdin xt 1.6 board may not b soldered on right. then i would check pinheader.

cheers beerchug.gif

Thanks for the reply. The reason I think the lpc was fine because if you read my first post, the MOD worked earlier today. It just randomly stoped and wouldnt work since. I had maybe 5 reboots after installing slayers, than it just wouldnt load anymore. Now it just loads the MS bios everytime, not sure why. My xbox is now worth 650$, I have been through 2 mods, 2 mobos, 2 hard drives, plus a shitload of shipping fees, not to mention lots of time lost.

The installer said I could send it back but I would have to pay shipping both ways. Not such a good deal IMO so im trying to fix it myself I guess. Really dont wanna wait another month or more to get it back again. I first ordered my chip in OCTOBER.

both banks are giving me MS bios, with mod enabled or disabled.
When enabled LED blinks but thats it.

I have m8 on bank0
cromwell on bank1

those may be reversed but I have both, unless they disapeared somehow, with my luck Id believe it.

Please see my edited reply above. It is definitely your LPC rebuild gone wrong.

I feel sorry for you, but I am amazed that of all installers/modders, you managed to pick the right "professional"  blink.gif I am only paid US$30-35 for a complete mod using DuoX 2 (included), regardless of xbox version  rolleyes.gif

I think I found another problem, On the duo website, their install pic shows that the chip clips into the pins and they are all covered, and 4 of the holes are still visible.
On my board as you can maybe see in my pic there are no holes ont he left side of the chip, I have pins coming out of all of those exept 1
