Duo X2 Wire Install On V1.0
« on: February 18, 2005, 12:08:00 AM »

wink.gif  It's more work now but it will save time later if you ever want or need to change your chip.

Assuming you have the blue Duo put the switch in position 0, which is the correct bios for a 1.0.  You should now be able to start your box using a boot disk such as slayers.  From there you can format your new disk. laugh.gif

you need a hard drive connected for the xbox to boot up and to flash (unless flashbios disables the HDD check which im pretty sure it doesn't)

Yah that should work. I think the cable just has to be physically plugged into a hard drive, doesn't matter what's on the drive because the xbox will boot straight from the disc in the dvd drive.  Get a copy of Slayers and boot from that then format.

I think it may throw up an error. as its the flash bios it doesn't boot from the DVD, the disc is inserted after making selection of the flash method.
If you put in a HDD from another machine that is locked then the eeprom check would have to be bypassed as the drive is paired to the eeprom. You will have to try it and see.
You could have avoided the uncertainty by getting the blue type with a hacked bios already on.

Means you don't need to patch out the media check in the newer games the bios will skip it.

When you back up newer games you have to patch them to remove the media check which is like a copy protection. well with the bios on the chip you don't have to patch the back up because the the bios takes care of it.
You now need to have a read through some pinned topics and browse the tutorials section a while because stuff like this is all covered in there

Yes that will work and probably the easiest way to go..why don't you have a stock HD?
