Couple Bios Questions
« on: February 11, 2005, 12:25:00 PM »

I have a v1.6b box which I will be installing a DuoX 2 cromwell edition in.  I will be using the M8plus_16.bin bios and I just wanted to confirm that I have to use EVtool to obtain LBA48 support by selecting "Partition 6 Takes Rest of the Drive" and saving the bios.  I also will make sure to save it as 512k.  Is this correct?

As for flashing it, I would like to only flash the bank 0 of the DuoX2 chip which contains the cromwell bios.  I would like to keep Flashbios on bank 1 in case something goes wrong.  So if I just create a flash disc with 512k BIOS.BIN file, will this only flash bank 0 of the chip? (using Flashbios)

Thanks!

Create the bios as postedand at 512K.
Boot from bank 1 and switch to Bank 0 before you insert the flashdisc. that way it will only flash bank 0 and flashbios 3.03 will still be on bank 1.
Please note that Flashbios3.03 can be troublesome in the 1.6 and you may need to boot a good few times to get it to work correctly.
Good luck

Awesome.  Thanks for the great advice.

One other question.  How many pins do I need to remove from the pin header.  The tutorial from the DuoX site suggests 2, but it can be clearly seen here that they removed a third:

So assuming the bottom right pin is 1, do I remove pins 3, 4, and 5, or only 3 and 5?

Thanks!

Pins 3and 5. Pin 4 will just go into the blank hole no soldering needed.
