Sounds like you have a solder short somewhere on the LPC/rebuild/chip itself. Check the link in my signature there are some alternate BT points on there and check the whole install looking for shorts.

Chancer: where is the alternate BT located?  I can't tell from the picture where on the board it is.  Any chance of a picture of the whole board with a circle around the area?

Follow the wires from the front panel eject/power board down onto the mobo and it sthe socket directly underneath.
I will take some different pics showing the whole area this week.
