Duox2 Not Engaging On V1.1

Does the red led light turn on when the chip is enabled? When you connect BT to pin 9 to force chip always On you are also grounding D0 on the Motherboard right?..check the D0 connection it might not be making contact.

The D0 point is not making correct connection.
If you ground the D0 and  leave off the pin 9 to BT connection at the moment. Boot the box and it will frag (Its trying to boot the LPC but can not load a bios as the chip is off)
If the box does not FRAG when run like this then the Xbox D0 is not making it

I also found that DuoX 2 is not so good for v1.1 - some DuoX 2s won't boot on v1.1. If you have more than one DuoX 2, you can try swapping them, I bet one of them will work smile.gif

Bad chip. New one worked right away.

Before you declare it a bad chip, try it on other newer xbox versions, for example a v1.4 or v1.6/1.6b, I bet it will work perfectly. I encountered a few such chips. If you decide to throw it right away, please give it to me  tongue.gif

Let us know if it works in another box. it would be interesting to find out why its kicked off at the V1.1. I have just changed the Laser on a Thomson drive ina 1.1 and chipped with a DuoX2 but worked ok and not had a problem with them. where did you get the chip and which flash rom does it have? Could you let us know if the red led and everything came on with this chip?

I have similar problems.......

eg: ver 1.1 with header pin & x2.0 lite installed with D0 grounded

boot x2.0 up - remove x2.0 / hotswap - plug on duox-2 and flash with say 4981

yup that went fine and turned itself off - booted back up on the 4981 and flipped switch to other side to put on a bios with embedded eeprom so it was gonna become a versitile mod for most xbox's (no 1.6's coz 4981 ain't compatible I know but this was gonna be for the older xbox's was my intention)

anyway flashed it with embedded bios and turns itself off

goes to power xbox on - 3 resets on either bank - wtf ?

remove duox-2 - boot with x2.0 or a cheapmod - all fine

turn off xbox - swap mod back to duox-2 and it boots ?

power off - power back on - 3 resets - WTF IS THIS SHIT ???

Now this is the second time I noticed this - the first duox-2 was when I was gonna use it on another xbox - thought it was 1.2 but was missing LFrame so x2.0 or cheapmod no good for a 1.3 xbox
with the 1.3 it was frag/3 reset stuff when the D0 was premanently grounded as in a cheap lpc mod install - oh sod this so had to crack another xbox open to pull out a duo-x 1 mod that did work no problem

WWWWWWWWhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhoooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

soz for long post but giving detailed examples before anyone says ah but did you do this n that - I'm not a complete noob

Both the 1.1 & the 1.3 work fine with the header pin all installed etc.... but note the D0 is permanently grounded:

Duox 1.0 - no problems with a D0 - Ground connection

2 x Duox-2's seem erratic if there is a D0 permanently grounded

Both these Duo-2's work flawless in 1.6's with the BT & D0 wired onto mod

Being that they changed something on the Duo's when they made the duo-x 2 - in other words the duo-x 1.0 don't work properly on 1.6's with it's smart/switch enable - found that out to be true

So if they changed something in the switch/enable circuit's the way D0 is grounded or the way it pulses so to speak - is that why if you try n use it in an older xbox with D0 - Ground always on you sometimes get problems ?

Chancer - when you have installed them Duo-x 2's in older mobo's was that with BT & D0 wires into the mod ?

Anyone else tried or had problems wiring the D0 - Ground with Duo-x 2's and had strange results problems

coz this is freaky if you want a quick mod that is always enabled

if so - bloomin' shame coz I think they are excellent mods

I may have missed it reading through but I assume you also connected BT to pin 9 on the chip as well as grounding the D0?

Is that what I should do - ergh tried to show what you might mean below

DON'T LAUGH

WHOOOPS I CAN'T COUNT 12 HEADER PINS - DONE NOW

view of duox-2 fitted to lpc pins from top x = pin 9 & a = missing hole 4/5/6

....D0 -- not being used if alt D0 is permanently grounded
o   o
o   X --  pin 9 link to BT pad below
o   o
a   a
a   o
o   o
.....X --  BT pad linked to other X - pin 9

so if I read ya post/reply correct if I link BT to pin 9
(point X to point X) it will function just like the duox-1  or any other "usual" type of lpc mod on older boards with tsop's ?

hope I read ya reply correctly

Yes if you connect BT on the chip to Pin 9 (Pin G on the diagram) then that enables the chip always (you have to have D0 grounded of course)
