Duo X2 White
« on: January 20, 2005, 09:23:00 AM »

i have alot of Duo X2 whites. and i have problem flashing them.
(they work great in all versions exept 1.6)

Flashbios 3.03 wont boot at all.
and Cromwell 2.32? is all green.

i tried the cromwell version and trying to flash from my DVD-R with a 512kb Evoxm8+16 named BIOS.BIN and a Dummy file (this DVD works in Flasbios 3.03 on xbox 1.1).
Nothing happens after insertingg DVD and Pressing A button...

When trying network it trys to get DHCP ... it answers F3,F3,F3,F3,F3,F3 (i think)and nothing happens (network works in Flashbios 3.03 on xbox 1.1).

Is there an EASY WAY to get around this problem ???

I found this Way on the 1.6:
#Solder pin9 to BT on duo x2 white.
#insert DVD with Evox and suitable bios.
#mount akira 2 on pinheader (yes i did try with another Duo but then i got "winbond not writable")
#hold D0 to ground and start xbox
#as soon as you can see Evox logo remove ground
#dismount akira 2
#mount Duo X2 White (make sure flashing red)
#flash from Evox
#solder D0 & BT to Duo X2 White

I could use a 1.0 - 1.5 xbox to do the normal flashing, but i dont always have access to one.

I have a Matrix programmer and have built a LPC adapter to it to fit other modchips.
but did't found a program that could use the matrix programmer to flash other than 49LC020 flashchips.

make sure you aint running the advanced video connection pack cos this is what happens if you do.
To get round the problem buy the Blue ones. Unless you are reselling and need to have Cromwell on them I can't see any reason to buy the Flash bios ones.

Chancer: Thanks for pointing that out.. i was using a RGB SCART cable.
When ordering this batch i figured that it would be easy to reflash those chips. (i allways do... i want my own "Logo")
Guess i go for the blue ones next time...

ckh2004: Flashbios 3.03 worked nice from both DVD-R and Network on this 1.6 (Samsung RAM)

Cromwell 2.32 did not work at all

I have not seen a 1.6b yet. Comming soon i guess... Xbox are hard to find here now...

Thanks for the help.. Funny i missed the RGB bart... i rembered reading that i had to use a orginal controller.. I even from my orginal BIG controller to a Controller-S
Thanks again

I am also having trouble with the f3, f3, f3, f3, f3 thing when trying to flash the bios via http.

I have also tried a disc, but it doesn't seem to work either, although I have not done this before, so not positive that I am doing it right.

Hoping someone has a good answer.

With an Composite cable i saw it was F?,F?,F?,F?,F? ...

maybe you did what i did... i did not read the manual for Cromwell 2.32
That bios only let you boot linux from CD/DVD or from a Linux boot share.
You have to boot linux and some flashing software.
I used "Eurasia generic pro flash disc 1.2" to boot linux with flash software.
and a second disk to load the bios from... This second disk i used same disk i use for Flashbios 3.03

I found "eurasia" in the usual place in the bios\bios tools\ folder
