with a 4mb bios? you mean The evox 1.3 bios designed explictly for this chip right?

well then all you need to do is press start when the bios is loading and on the menu that loads up just go select the original x-box bios, and yes this is where you can bind it to a button like the A or X button so you just have to press that button when loading the bios to turn off the chip

what i did was flashed the bios via http wtih a 4mb bios based on 4981.06. (the instructions said to make sure it was a 4mb bios) when i boot up to the xchip screen it says the bios is version 1.1.  the chip flashed properly and i can get into avalaunch and run my games no problem.  i havent been able to assign a button to disable the chip at boot.  holding start when booting does not take me to the config screen, i need to set pin 2 to on via the external switch in order to get there.  when i select the original xbox bios i dont get the option to assign it to a button, the screen flashes and goes back to the original menu.  sorry if this is confusing, not an expert at this.  appreciate the response kryxan.  i have xbox version 1.0.

I've got the X-chip. I got the evox x-chip bios 1.3 & installed it, and everything works as it should. My understanding is it has it's own little OS in the chip, and that is why it needs it's own bios especially made for it. I've tried installing other Bios's & they didn't work, which meant I had to reinstall the 1.3. I would suggest getting it & using it. It has everthing you need!

Evox M8 BIOS won't let you FTP to the XBOX either!!

You need to install a dashboard (EvolutionX) before you can FTP to the box.
You can use one of the auto installers "slayer's....or whatever" or you can install it manually, by burning to a CDRW or DVD.

Once you have the dashboard on your xbox, everything can be modified from ftp.

X-Chip bios adds all functionality of M8 plus a whole lot more....
