Fragging Problem Need Help
« on: March 10, 2005, 11:13:00 AM »

You should not have the USB connected while the Xbox is powered on.

It was a contact issues in the first place. that was the issue to beging with.

The red light on the X-Chip simply means that power is flowing to the chip. It means that 2 points are making contact which are the 5 volt and the ground point. If you don't get this red led then either of the points is not making contact or you may have a defective led (which is highly unlikely)

If the Xbox is NOT working without The X-chip installed you may have damaged the Xbox.

The X-chip may also have been damged during this process. If the X-chip can work in X-control then the chip should be OK.

So then basically im screwed if the xbox frags when chip is not on the pinheader?
If i use a solder sucker and start all over will it fix the problem or is that just a waste of my time?  If xbox is damaged is there any way to fix it? What would cause xbox to be damaged?

Check the trace lines you may have damaged one while your were soldering something.

Don't give up as of yet. I have found from experience that many bothched installs was just a repair of a tarce line was able to bring the box back to life.

However if your Xbox is not working with no X-chip installed then there is an issue with the Xbox itself that needs to be look at.

Fix the Xbox first then worry about the X-chip after.
